     Just as our motto says, the Alcorn School District is "For EVERY Child."  The children are the reason the district exists, and our employees strive daily to ensure that every child's needs are met.  Due to the efforts of our educators and students, we are a Grade "B" High Performing School District.

  • All-State Honor Choir
    user inserted imageNine fifth and sixth graders from the Alcorn School District participated in the Mississippi All-State Elementary Honor Choir in Hattiesburg, MS, April 3-5. Students auditioned with others from across the state  to be selected for this 170 member choir.
    Students from the Alcorn School District who were selected to participate include Callie Loncar (KMS), Alli Grace Dupree (KMS),
    Ethan Michael (RES), Isabell Goad (GES), Tess Lancaster (ACMS), Briley Newcomb (BES), Nathan Harvell (KMS), C.J. McLemore (ACMS), and Jena Grace Palmer(RES).
    Ruth E. Dwyer was the clinician for this year's honor choir. She is internationally recognized as a treble choir specialist and Kodaly educator. 
     
  • Kossuth FFA Places 3 Teams at State FFA Contests

     Mississippi State University hosted over 800 contestants in 14 different State FFA Career Development Events on Friday,
    April 4th.  These contests test student knowledge, decision making, problem solving, and teamwork skills to name just a few. 
    FFA members from across Mississippi compete in hopes of earning a state championship and the opportunity to represent MS at the National FFA
    Convention and Career Development Events.
                  Kossuth FFA fielded the following six teams and team members in the state FFA contests:
    Food Science­ Shea Mercer, Scott Null, Courtney Steele, and Ashley Tullis
    Meats­ Jacob Brock, Taylor Jackson, Terry Ray Michaels, and Matt Rowland
    Forestry­ AJ Carter, Ty Dickson, Matthew Lambert, and Ben Martin
    Floriculture­ MaKayla Bradley, Claire Cornelius, Helen Doss, Mallorie Waldon,
    Dairy Judging­ Sky Jackson, Kayla Mercer, Makayla Simmons, and Kaitlin Stogner
    Farm Business Management­ Alexis Holley, Brett Holley, Jordan Mercer, and Ben Spencer
    The Farm Business Management team earned a State Championship, and Brett Holley was high individual overall.  The Farm Business
    Management team will compete at FFA National Convention this October in Louisville, KY.   The Dairy Judging team earned 2nd place, and the Meats
    team tied for 2nd place, receiving 3rd place after the tie­breaker was determined.

  • Alcorn School District Honor Choir

    The Alcorn School District held the 19th annual Honor Choir on Sunday, March 30 with school performances on Monday, March 31.  Sixty-five 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students from seven county schools were selected to participate. Those selected practiced two full days to present their program, which consisted of singing and playing instruments. Directors Bethany Cheaves, Tina Price Downs, and Nancy Harvell would like to say thank you to Tate Baptist Church for hosting this event and to our special guest musicians Cullen Irvin (trumpet), McCay Johnson (drums), Mallorie Waldon (percussion and singing), Maria Price (singing), and Mr. Brandon Harvell (saxophone).

  • 2014 Treble Song Honor Choir

    Alcorn School District was well represented at the 2014 Treble Song Honor Choir.  Participants auditioned for a chair in the choir with over 200 other girls from all over Mississippi. It was a great accomplishment to be chosen. The clinician, Dr. Gary Packwood, brought much life and learning to the choir room.  Please congratulate these girls on a job well done!

  • Riley McCalla--KHS Rotary Student of the Month for March

      Riley McCalla represented Kossuth High School and the Alcorn School District as the Rotary Student of the Month for March. He is the son of Keith and Rebecca McCalla and is ranked 3rd in his senior class of 99 seniors with a 4.0. He has obtained a composite score of 30 on his ACT. Riley has been extremely active throughout high school. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Math and Science Club, Spanish Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Interact Club, and Teenagers against Tobacco Use. Riley served as captain of his Cross Country Team and is a member of Kossuth’s Track and Field Team. He has received several awards in Cross Country which include Region 1-3A Champion and All State 3A runner for the past two years, Coach’s Award, Most Improved his Junior Year. This year his cross country team won Region 1-3A and he was a bronze medalist at the MHSAA State Cross Country Meet..........
