Grant-In-Aid-Grant In Aid Scholarship, administered by the Corinth Junior Auxiliary, is available to students in Alcorn County who demonstrate an avid interest in their education but are financially underprivileged. It is a one-time award of $750. Scholarship recipients may reapply each year. Glenn David Gray Memorial Scholarship-Awarded by the Corinth Junior Auxiliary to residents of Alcorn. County who intend to pursue studies in any medically related field. ($1000).

Mississippi Eminent Scholar's Grant (MESG). A grant of $2500 per year is available to MS residents who are entering freshmen and who achieve an ACT score of 29 or better and a 3.5 GPA. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Packet will be available in counselor's office in middle January or online at http://fafsa.ed.gov/ 1-800-433-3243. You should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible

Placement testing at NEMCC: Core requirements for NEMCC English and Math courses. When new students are admitted to the college, their ACT scores are reviewed to determine if specific academic skills need to be improved. Students with ACT English and Reading sub scores less than 15 are required to complete the "WritePlacer" test provided by Accuplacer. Students who score 7 or below on the WritePlacer will be registered for ENG 1103 Intro to Composition. Completion of this course with a passing grade will qualify the student for entry in ENG 1113 English Comp. I. Student with ACT Math sub scores of less than 19 may be in need of instruction to enhance their mathematical skills. NEMCC uses the Accuplacer Elementary Algebra test to accurately place students with the correct level of mathematics
Dual Admission at NEMCC- High school students who desire to complete college classes while maintaining their status as high school students may gain Dual Admission status by submitting: 1.  completed NEMCC admission. 2. High school transcript with minimum 14 credits with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.3. Unconditional letter of recommendation from principal and or counselor. Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG). It is worth $500 per year for freshmen and sophomores and $1000 per year for juniors and seniors who are Mississippi residents. Entering freshmen must have a minimum ACT score of 15 and a 2.5 GPA. Apply online after January 1 at http:www.ihl.state.ms.us/financialaid/mtag.html

The Mississippi Tuitions Assistance Grant (MTAG) is free money to assist college students. A grant does not have to be repaid. The qualifications are: student and parents must be state residents, student must have an overall GPA of 2.50, student must have an ACT of 15 from scores from ACT in Iowa. parents may be required to mail supporting documentation (proof of residence, etc.,) upon request. To apply, seniors can go to www.ihl.state.ms.us. Select "Financial Aid" on the left of the screen and then pursue the "Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG) link. College Freshmen and Sophomores who qualify can receive $500 per year and Juniors and Seniors can receive $1000 per year. Deadline: September 15, 2010 of Freshmen year in college.

NORTHEAST MS COMMUNITY COLLEGE SPECIFICS: TO QUALIFY FOR AN ACT Scholarship at Northeast, a senior must have a score of 22 or 23. This is good for a Fall Semester one-time Tuition Scholarship. A score of 24-29 will earn a two-year tuition scholarship as long as a 3.00 GPA is maintained and 15 semester hours are taken. A score of 30 or higher will merit tuition and housing. It is the responsibility of the student with the qualifying score for and ACT Scholarship to apply and request the scholarship filling out a Northeast Financial Aid form during the spring semester April 1 deadline.

Seniors are reminded of the ACT requirements at Northeast Community College. In order to take College Algebra, a student should make 19 on the Math section of the ACT. In order to take the regular English class, a student should have ACT score of 15 on the English section and 15 on the Reading section.

Also, NE now offers $200.00 scholarships per semester for an ACT score 19-21, or a GPA of 90 plus. In addition, there is a new leadership scholarship. Seniors that have placed in State competition in any school club or organization at any point in high school, will also be eligible for a $200.00 scholarship for up to four semesters.

(February will be the last test date a senior could use to qualify for an ACT Scholarship form NEMCC before the April 1 deadline.) It is recommended that a student complete the 3 core math and science courses in order to be prepared for the first time. The minimum in math are Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II and the minimum in science are Biology, Physical Science or    A & P and Chemistry. These are the minimum ACT prep courses.

 KFC Colonel's Scholarship. Seniors may apply for the 2010 KFC Colonel's Scholarship by going to www.kfc.scholars.org. Application dates are December 1-February 10. Seniors must have 2.75 GPA, pursuing a 4-year degree in any accredited college, and be a U.S. Citizen. Also, as soon as possible, students need to complete a FAFSA in January of 2010 or go to www.fafsa.ed.gov. or www.act.org/fane to calculate student financial need. Deadline: February 10, 2010. The Profiles in Courage in Courage Essay Contest is open to high school students grades 9-12.
