| Grant in Aid
Scholarship, administered by the Corinth Junior Auxiliary, is available to
students in Alcorn County who demonstrate an avid interest in their
education but are financially underprivileged. It is a one-time award of
$750. Scholarship recipients may reapply each year. |
The Glenn Davis
Gray Memorial Scholarship is awarded by the Corinth Junior Auxiliary to
residents of Alcorn County who intend to pursue studies in any medically
related field. It is a one-time award of $1000. Scholarship recipients may
reapply each year. |

Coca-Cola Scholars Program -
www.coca-colascholars.org - applications must be received by October 31.
They are awarding $3 million a year in scholarships to 250 deserving students.
Kiwanis Club - Leon Frazier Memorial Scholarship - Deadline to return
application is March 4.
Owen B. Whitehurst Memorial Scholarship - Return application to Mrs.
Lyles no later than March 11.
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program Application - Deadline

Corinth Civitan's Roscoe Turner Memorial Scholarship - Scholarship is
based on academic ability indicators, leadership potential, outstanding
character and personal qualities. Deadline is April 1
The Alliance Agricultural Scholarships - Four $500 scholarships awarded
each year for students pursuing an agricultural career. Applications must be
received by April 30. (See Mrs. Lyles)
Mississippi Scholars - must turn in to Mrs. Lyles by spring break
documentation of 20 hours of community service and 95% school attendance fore
the year plus have taken the required classes.

Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG).
It
is worth $500 per year for freshmen and sophomores and $1,000 per year for
juniors and seniors who are Mississippi residents. Entering freshmen must have
a minimum ACT score of 15 and a 2.5 GPA. Apply online after January 1
at www.mississippi.edu

Mississippi Eminent Scholar’s Grant (MESG).
A
grant of $2,500 per year is available to MS residents who are entering
freshmen and who achieve an ACT score of 29 or better and a 3.5 GPA. Apply

Packet will be available in counselor’s office in middle January or online at

Placement testing at NEMCC:
Core requirements for
NEMCC English and Math courses. When new students are admitted to the college,
their ACT scores are reviewed to determine if specific academic skills need to
be improved. Students with ACT English and Reading sub scores less than 15 are
required to complete the "WritePlacer" test provided by Accuplacer. Students
who score 7 or below on the WritePlacer will be registered for ENG 1103 Intro
to Composition. Completion of this course with a passing grade will qualify
the student for entry in ENG 1113 English Comp. I. Students with ACT Math sub
scores of less than 19 may be in need of instruction to enhance their
mathematical skills. NEMCC uses the Accuplacer Elementary Algebra test to
accurately place students win the correct level of mathematics.

Dual Admission at NEMCC
- High school students
who desire to complete college classes while maintaining their status as high
school students may gain Dual Admission status by submitting:
1. completed NEMCC admission
2. High school transcript with minimum 14 credits with
a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
3. Unconditional letter of recommendation from
principal and or counselor.
